Winemaking history
Requena, located in the interior of the province of Valencia, is alongside Utiel the center of the Utiel-Requena region, one of the major wine-growing areas of the Spanish Mediterranean and the birthplace of the Bobal variety. With its own designation of origin and centuries of tradition, it is also a land of cava.
It is part of the same wine world of the southeastern peninsula that includes Alicante, sharing history and Mediterranean varieties.
Wine tourism
Requena invites visitors to discover its historic town of La Villa, its underground wine cellars, and its Harvest Festival, one of the oldest in Spain. Visit-worthy wineries, wine museums, and gastronomy complete its wine tourism offerings, located less than an hour from Valencia.
