Bodegas Riko

Bodegas Riko has its roots in 1921, when it was founded by Francisco Mestre Gadea in Xaló, a municipality that is part of the La Marina Alta region. The history of the winery is intrinsically linked to the viticulture of the DOP Alicante, characterized by its diversity of indigenous varieties and Mediterranean landscapes.

The founder emigrated to Argentina due to phylloxera, but his passion for viticulture led him to return and settle, thus creating a winery that has remained a benchmark for wine production in the region. In 1988, the facilities were relocated, but the essence of the winery has always been rooted in this land.

The philosophy of Bodegas Riko focuses on crafting honest wines with soul, based on the belief that 'wine is made in the vineyard.' This approach translates into a careful selection of the grape varieties cultivated in its 13 hectares of vineyard, with a particular emphasis on the Muscatel variety, characteristic of the area. The winery also cares for the environment, working on recovering soil fertility, reflecting its commitment to sustainability in wine production.

The vineyard of Bodegas Riko is located in a beautiful landscape of Marina Alta, where the Mediterranean climate conditions create an ideal environment for grape cultivation. With dry-farmed vineyards and proximity to the sea, the combination of sunshine and sea breeze contributes to the quality of its grapes, especially Muscat of Alexandria, which adapts perfectly to these lands.
