Winemaking history

Xaló is a municipality that forms part of the Denomination of Origin Protected Alicante, where the culture of wine has been rooted for centuries. The most emblematic grape variety in this region is Monastrell, known for producing robust-bodied wines with intense flavors.

Fondillón, a natural sweet wine that has gained fame for its history, also has its origins here, connecting Xaló with winemaking traditions that date back to ancient times. Winemaking in Xaló has not only been preserved through generations but has also evolved to include modern techniques that enhance the characteristics of its wines.

In addition to Monastrell, the region produces other grape varieties that bring diversity to its wine offerings. Local wineries like Bodegas Riko and Bodegas Xaló allow visitors to closely discover the winemaking process as well as taste the rich variety of qualities produced in this fertile land.
