History
Casa Balaguer is the vineyard project of Bodegas Vinessens in Villena. The estate was founded in 2000 by Alicante winemaker Rafa Bernabé and, in 2017, it was passed on to the Vinessens family: Andrés Carull and Marta Ribera, two winemakers who established the winery in 2008 after training in Valencia and working in Bordeaux.
What started as a small project of just 7,000 bottles is now one of the references for organic wine in Alicante.
Philosophy
The philosophy of the house is the organic cultivation of indigenous varieties. The winery is certified organic and primarily works with old-vine Monastrell, aged between 35 and 70 years, aiming to express the Mediterranean character and the terroir of Villena with minimal intervention.
The vineyard
Casa Balaguer cultivates around 70 hectares spread over two estates in the Villena region, in Alto Vinalopó, focusing on old Monastrell vineyards that are the heart of their wines.
