Utiel
Winemaking history
Utiel, in the interior of the province of Valencia, is the heart of the Utiel-Requena region, one of the largest wine-growing areas in the Spanish Mediterranean and the birthplace of the Bobal variety. It has its own Denomination of Origin (DO Utiel-Requena) and a long tradition of high-altitude vineyards.
It shares the same wine world as southeast Spain, which includes Alicante, with a shared history, markets, and Mediterranean varieties.
Wine tourism
Utiel invites visitors to explore its wineries and highland vineyard landscapes, with Bobal as the star. Wine museums, tastings, and harvest festivals complete a well-established wine tourism offer, just over an hour from Valencia.
