Moscatel Route of Marina Alta

7 h
Duration
35 km
Distance

Stops

In Marina Alta, the vineyard overlooks the Mediterranean. Between Xaló, Benissa, and Teulada, the terraces of Moscatel de Alejandría climb the slopes facing the sea, protected by the mountains and caressed by the sea breeze. This is the land of mistela and sweet wines, but also of a new generation of signature whites and reds that are reshaping the Alicante wine landscape.

The route begins in the Valley of Xaló, famous for its cooperative and mistelas, with Bodegas Xaló and the organic Bodegas Riko. It continues to Benissa, where projects such as Joan de la Casa, Bodegas Trenza, and Antonio Llobell produce wines closely linked to the land. It ends in Teulada, home to Montesanco and Bodega Teulada, among vineyards, almond trees, and views of the Peñón de Ifach.

A perfect route to combine enotourism with beach, charming villages, and the best cuisine of the coast: fresh fish, rice dishes, and sweet mistela as a finale.

Practical tips

Book visits in advance. Spring and summer are ideal for combining with the beach. Don't leave without trying the mistela and the local moscatel. Distances are short, but on mountain roads: drive calmly. Combine the route with Calpe and the Peñón de Ifach or the villages of Xaló and Benissa.
