Moscatel de grano menudo

The Muscat of small berries is the other great variety of the Muscat family, alongside the Muscat of Alexandria. With smaller bunches and berries, it is considered the most refined and noble muscatel, capable of producing both sweet and dry wines with immense aromatic finesse. It has been cultivated in the Spanish Mediterranean since ancient times and shares the tradition of muscat wines with Alicante.

Also known as Muscatel Morisco or Roman Muscat, it is one of the oldest grape varieties in the Mediterranean, already present during Greek and Roman times. Unlike the Muscat of Alexandria, which has larger berries, the small-berry muscat is distinguished by its small, compact bunches and a more elegant aromatic expression, highly valued for natural sweet wines and mistelas throughout the Mediterranean arc.

It is a variety with small bunches and tiny berries, characterized by moderate yields and great aromatic concentration. It produces wines — sweet or dry — of intense expression, finer and more delicate than those of Muscat of Alexandria, with acidity that adds freshness and balance.

Its profile is unmistakably muscatel but more elegant: orange blossom, white flowers, fresh grapes, citrus, and notes of honey and aromatic herbs, with a fine and perfumed character.

With early budding and medium ripening, it adapts well to the Mediterranean climate, although its compact bunch requires careful management against humidity; it prefers warm and ventilated areas.
