History
Heretat de Cesilia Winery is located in Novelda, a municipality in the rich region of Vinalopó, where the winemaking tradition dates back to the arrival of the Phoenicians in the 6th century BC. Over the centuries, this land has witnessed the evolution of wine, gaining recognition in Europe; in fact, by the late 18th century, its wines were the most renowned in Germany.
Heretat de Cesilia is part of this history and contributes to the significance of the DOP Alicante on the wine map. This Denomination of Origin protects the richness and diversity of a territory where Monastrell stands as the emblematic red variety.
The winery's philosophy is based on knowledge passed down through generations, applying ancestral techniques in the production of quality wines that reflect the essence of the terroir. Through its vineyards, Heretat de Cesilia not only keeps tradition alive but also offers wines that pay homage to the rich history of Alicante and its diverse wine culture.
Fondillón, the historic wine of the area, perfectly illustrates Novelda's relationship with the world of wine, being a rancio red wine made from overripe Monastrell grapes.
Philosophy
The philosophy of Heretat de Cesilia focuses on ecological practices, reflecting a commitment to sustainability in vineyard cultivation. The winery has obtained the Carbon Footprint seal, highlighting its desire to care for the natural environment.
Its wines, such as CASA CESILIA CRIANZA and CESILIA BLANCO, are crafted with deep respect for the land and family heritage, always seeking the highest quality in every bottle. In an environment where indigenous varieties prevail, the winery also emphasizes the use of Monastrell and Merseguera, adding freshness and character to its creations.
Each wine evokes the Alicante wine landscape, marking a connection between tradition and innovation, allowing visitors to rediscover the charm of this region through its flavors.
The vineyard
The vineyards of Heretat de Cesilia span a landscape that blends mountains and plains, capturing the essence of the Mediterranean climate that prevails in the area. With 10,000 hectares of vineyards, the environment offers ideal conditions for cultivating both Monastrell and Merseguera, creating a mosaic of colors and aromas that transform the landscape into a natural work of art.
The proximity to the sea and the microclimate generate variations that positively influence the development of the grapes, thus providing wines with personality. The winemaking space in the Vinalopó region stands out for its diversity, from the mountainous interior to the more coastal areas, reflecting a balance between agricultural tradition and the beauty of the surroundings.
This landscape becomes the perfect setting to enjoy viticulture, where each season brings about a new sensory experience for wine lovers.
