History
The Torre Enmedio winery, located in Benimantell, was established over 30 years ago after acquiring a beautiful Mediterranean estate in the mountains of Alicante. This region, rich in winemaking traditions, has been cultivating vines since times as far back as the Al-Ándalus era.
However, the arrival of the phylloxera plague in the 19th century temporarily interrupted this heritage. Today, Torre Enmedio represents a revaluation of these winemaking customs, offering wines that reflect both the terroir and local craftsmanship.
The Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Alicante is home to characteristic wines, where the emblematic red variety Monastrell intertwines with others such as Garnacha Tintorera and Moscatel de Alicante. This area is known not only for its diversity of grapes but also for its production of Fondillón, a historic wine of great prestige that has been acclaimed in European courts since the Renaissance.
In this context, Torre Enmedio contributes to the rich winemaking history of Alicante with its focus on producing quality wines. The winery has persisted in its desire to craft wines that are enjoyed in their youth, focusing on low acidity and palatability, values that complement the longstanding winemaking tradition of the region.
With a long-term commitment, its facilities and products seek to pay homage to the heritage of their ancestors and the nature of their surroundings, thus creating a genuine connection with the winemaking essence of Alicante.
Philosophy
The philosophy of Torre Enmedio revolves around the production of young wines, specially crafted for enjoyment within a range of 2 to 6 years. This perspective allows the winemaker to prioritize freshness and the natural expression of the grapes, avoiding commercial pressures that can affect product quality.
The winery produces three types of wine: a red that combines 70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% merlot, a rosé with the same proportion of the same varieties, and a white made 100% from sauvignon blanc. This selection of varieties is not only in line with current trends but also resonates with the roots of local viticulture.
Each wine from Torre Enmedio is characterized by its balance and low acidity, offering consumers a pleasant experience on the palate. This approach to winemaking reflects a respect for the traditions of the area, which has always valued the characteristics that the varieties offer in their geographical and climatic context.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Torre Enmedio is situated in an idyllic landscape of the province of Alicante, where mountains and the Mediterranean climate combine. This particular environment not only favors the growth of grapes but also imparts a distinctive character to the wines produced here.
The lands where the vines grow are steeped in the history of the region, which has seen generations dedicated to vine cultivation, adapting to the challenges of the environment and the evolution of the winemaking sector. The Mediterranean climate, combined with its unique geography, provides exceptional conditions for vine cultivation, with mild winters and warm summers.
This allows the vineyards to thrive in a diverse and rich ecosystem, where the winemaking tradition is expressed in every harvest. This setting is ideal for experiencing the authenticity of the wines from the DOP Alicante, where the land, air, and local craftsmanship come together magically.
